No, phase 1 and 6 will meet. Dhoby Ghaut to Millenia is the branch line of CCL.

they surely have everything planned in when they decided to build DTE.

as for Phase 6, i believe it's been replaced fully by DTE, so no lines from Downtown linking direct to HarbourFront.

Bukit Timah line (BTL) hasn't been announced yet, but from this: http://www.lta.gov.sg/images/millenia_station.jpg, it shows that BTL terminates at Millenia.

Without the BTL and extension from harbourfront to new downtown, the CCL from Marymount to Harbourfront may be handicapped.

Who would travel round the island from Alexandra to new Downtown?

Judging from my present travelling patterns, my usage on CCL (from Holland Stn) would be:

Travel to Serangoon once every 3 months (to visit my sis in seng kang).
Travel to Buona Vista during rainy days.
Travel to Millenia once. (when it first started).
Travel to Harbourfront once every 6 months.
Travel to Bishan once every blue moon.

The new downtown extension could be better off if terminate at Outram Park, for easy transfer by commuters on EW line.

I think Marina line isnt exactly identical to the current CCL stage 1, becos i thinks that this current DTE is what was at first part of Marina Line also but had been deferred until now.

According to the map http://www.lta.gov.sg/images/location_plan.jpg, it seems that the BTL will intersect Bugis, Little India and Newton Stations. the BTL and ERL will also intersect at a point which seems to be between Little India and Bugis Stations, but dunno if that means an interchange station will be built.

if u see the map on the front page of the ST today, u can see that DTE will eventually be part of the loop from the city end of BTL to the city end of ERL.

The CCL will be built in stages. The Marina Line is the first stage of the CCL. Stage 2 of the CCL extends from Stadium Boulevard to Upper Paya Lebar Road. Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 are expected to be completed at the end of 2006.

BTL will also intersect Adam station on phase 4 of CCL.

I guess BTL and ERL will intersect at the junction of Jln Besar and Rochor Canal Rd/Sungei Rd.

CCL phase 1 was indeed called the Marina line (MRL) in the past.

You're not wrong, but the initially planned Marina Line consisted not only of the current CCL stage 1, but also the deferred DTE.
