SBST low demand routes (Profitable as well)

last SG · 2004-06-21T20:31:11+00:00

the first thing tat came to my mind is 401.

sbst275 SG

Where?

gynobcard SG

FYI, most ppl would rather take a taxi or drive to the cmty since its in some god-forsaken place. 405 is mainly a "community service" which is non-profitable and cross-subsidised by other services

freakybuses SG

and you see why no one is on the bus from boon lay to cck rd end sometimes on last bus.... people dont want to be trapped by ghosts... Laughing

sbst275 SG

FYI 405 last bus leaves Boon Lay at 1700 which is still very bright as it is at the Western end

freakybuses SG

And how will the people get out if they have no car? Walk? Walking takes about 30 mins to get out.... and also easy to get lost.

sbst275 SG

People go for ching ming only in the morning, by 1300, the cmty is quiet already.

Let's put it into pieces

Low Demand Rts

Totally: 11, 35, 82, 101, 103, 119, 125, 186, 191, 200, 405
Off Peak only: 6, 29*, 79, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 107, 158, 182, 194**, JIS, 354**, 400**, 401**, 403**, 506

*29 is only high demand at Tampines
**Holiday seasons is very high in demand

sbst275 SG

For the high demand rts, I would use sector instead, it seems very hard to just select service. Sure to have argument and would go on and on. By looking at the low demand section, some say this some say that, cannot make everyone happy.

2 is the feeder service for residents of Changi. After Bedok Stn demand is quite average.

3 is also feeder service for Pasir Ris / Tampines / Punggol pax, high demand throughout the entire route.

9 has high demand on its whole route during peak hours (full capacity towards CACC) while off peak demand is pretty good until Loyang Ave (Blk 149A).

10 and 12 demand is spread out quite evenly around full route.

15 often has overloaded trips between Marine Parade and Eunos MRT. Also serves as a fast link between Pasir Ris and Tampines.

17 demand is highest along Bedok North Ave 4 / Bedok North Rd, as it is the only service along these stretches of roads it plies.

19 has full trips towards CACC during peak hours, after that, demand is from Tampines Int - Loyang Ave (Blk 275), serving mainly as a feeder service.

21 has high demand along Tampines Ave 4 / Ave 7 and Bedok Reservoir Rd - Geylang Rd.

23, 24, 25 & 27's full routes have high demand.

28 backs up 293 in Tampines and has high demand up to Paya Lebar Rd, after that pretty average.

30 had high demand throughout. 31 has high demand from Tampines - Marine Parade, Marine Parade - Geylang, and Toa Payoh - Bendemeer.

Normally people go to cemeteries in mornings, they will leave by 1500 latest. Any later and they'd probably call for a cab.

Superbus SG

Service 35 has totally low demand? I beg to differ. Even during off-peak periods, number of pax can be more than average.

Well, most people I spoke to when I board Service 405 wanted that service to run more frequently, ie every Sunday only. They have to take taxi as they have no other mode of transportation to the cemetery. I am not talking about the Chinese cemetery or the old Muslim cemetery (Pusara Aman) but I'm talking about the new Muslim cemetery (Pusara Abadi) which is virtually non-accessible by bus. The nearest bus service, Service 175, has a stop 10 minutes walk from the entrance of the cemetery.

I've seen both packed and Sv. 35 buses before, it's a matter of timing and when ferries depart/arrive from TMFT. I took Sv. 35 one whole round once and coming back from TMFT, the bus was packed.

sbst275 SG

For 405, I take note of that in my IBS

For service 35, thks for that info. However, the frequency is 20 mins FYI Very Happy

Superbus SG

My pleasure. As for the frequency, at times I don't trust it at all, for in numerous occasions, frequency of Service 35 is faster by up to 10 minutes than the officially-stated frequency.

For sv 35, they have Estimated Arrival plates. By right, the service captain arrives early, you do have any right to query SBST, their address is ________________(I used this to complain of poor working condition aircon buses)
Because, you after the customer after all....

Moderator's Note:

It is advisable to feedback to the respective bus companies through official channels like their Customer Service hotlines or the SBS Transit / SMRT Buses website.

sbst275 SG

Let me update it
