No, it isn't. 518 goes to Elias Road via Drive 3 before hitting Drive 1 and down to Tampines. It doesn't go by 15's route.

But how many actually take service 38 to and from Expo? I have been to Expo and the 3 pairs of bus stops where services 12, 24, 38 and service 35 serve are under-utilized.

Under-utilized, yes, but last weekend I saw many people waiting at these bus stops. It's all a matter of timing. Just because its underutilized much of the time doesn't mean it cannot be overutilized several times a year.

FYI, there were 4 exhibitions going on concurrently at Expo last weekend. If these services didn't ply that area people would be complaining at having to walk in the heat.

I know of the over-utilization when there are major events going on, but in overall, they're still under-utilized.

I only suggest service 38 to re-route, leave out the other 3 services.

That stretch of Upp Changi Rd is a private residential area, and with relatively low demand. There are only people waiting for the bus there during the peak hours and the occasional students.

This is unlike the residential area of Upp Changi Rd North, where demand is much higher because of the workers at Changi Prison / Army camps / workers working on the road widening project. Plus the residential area @ Changi North is about 3-4 times larger than the one on Upp Changi Rd.

Why would Tampines / Simei residents take the train for two and one stops respectively then wait about 8min for an Airport bound train which they are only going to take for 1 stop? Taking a bus would be much faster.

Upp Changi Rd East needs a link to the nearest, most convenient MRT station, which happens to be Tanah Merah. Expo is too cumbersome, so keeping Sv 38 is the way to go. Furthermore I get to experience speeding N113CRBs so who's complaining? Mr. Green

Simei residents have alternate service 12 (although it doesn't go into the heart of Simei). Tampines residents may prefer to take the train as service 38 wind around in Simei.

Bedok houses many amenities such as supermarkets, food centres and others which Simei doesn't really have. I'm inclined to think Simei is actually caused by the division of Tampines by the PIE.

Yes Simei should actually be considered part of Tampines, even SBST did, they had feeders from Tampines into Simei.

Tampines residents can take alternative service 12 if they do not wish to wind inside Simei. The

I guess there's none in my area. AYE was formerly a normal road bulit in late 1970s or early 1980s.

Thus I presume Clementi was built around that road, and it got converted to the AYE soon after? What was the name of that road?

The road you mentioned is Upp Ayer Rajah Rd (between Clementi Rd and Jurong Town Hall Rd). Ayer Rajah Rd was from Clementi Rd to Alexandra Rd. They were converted to AYE sometime in the 1980s.

As you can see on the map, Clementi Rd, West Coast Rd, Pasir Panjang Rd, Dover Rd etc have existed from the 1960s.

Back to topic...keep 38 as it provides Tampines residents with a direct link to Expo

People dun really mind about the winding part in Simei because it is not really not that long, and yes, Tampines residents would be crazy to use the MRT to get to the Expo because it is like going 2 stops ahead then going back 1 and the Expo station location makes you walk a much longer distance than the busstops on Upp Changi Rd East
