Don't know them. Honestly three services from TPY - Tampz is overkill.

But SBS treats 8 as if it has high demand so it is a high class service with guesto VSOs, newest B10M. I think service 8 may have to be resechulded as 2-3 buses brunched up and SD or DD have empty loading. I think 8 is actually an unprofitable rt as it duplicate with many inter-town services like 18, 38 and trunk services like 65, 66 which has better frequency. It is also completing with 23 (I think if you know that if you are going to TAM at Macpherson Kopitiam, if you walk further to Jalan Kolam Ayer, you may take 23 which is much faster than 8 to Temasek Poly areas)

While service 90 has very high demand but not a single AC DD. Today, I took 3623 at 1759 (Opp POSBank, Macpherson Road), the bus left overloaded and I was standing on the steps all the way to TPY.

A question to ask SBST: When service 90 is introduced, why is the route planned to duplicate service 8 (which is introduced earlier than service 90) up to Paya Lebar Rd? No alternative route?

It has to serve RSAF PLAB personnal and workers at Tai Seng from the nearest NSL station. Duplicating with 8 is that 90 will give cheaper fare as it is NAC.
Actually, 90 has a higher demand that service 8 during peak hours. It serves high demand areas, serving RSAF PLAB (the biggest air base in SGP), SCDF HQ, Tai Seng Flatted Fty, Macpherson Road.

Service 8 may have to be amended as it duplicate with many SV and frequency are better.
At Tampines: Service 18, 38, 39 serves Tampines Ave 2
Service 23 serves Temasek Poly to Macpherson Road (Near Kopitiam)
Service 22, 65, 66 along Bedok Reservior Road
Service 90 to Toa Payoh

Service 8 have a very low demand at Toa Payoh side, how is the demand at Tampines?

demand isn’t very high at tampines cos there are so many alternative services that can be taken to any destination along the route of 8…

It depends on which time of the day. The sector between Bedok Reservoir Road and Tampines Interchange during the morning peak is sometimes very high, due to the students. That goes the same during the afternoon. There are times even a Service 8 Superbus couldn't cope with the demand.

And there is times when many Service 8 Superbus with only 20% of the seats filled at any other times of the day. Which makes me wonder, why put a VSO, even on a Sunday, when there is little demand?

SBST feel like it what. As much as I would like to see some B10Ms in Bishan courtesy of Sv. 8 it's unlikely they will amend it soon enough, anyway. However, anything can happen like that of Sv. 124

If you are at Macpherson Kopitiam, you may want to walk to Jalan Kolam Ayer (Siemens Ctr) instead of POSBank to take 23 which is much faster than 8. Do you know about this actually?

Oh yes, 966 will not call Serangoon Road (Opp S'goon Fire Post), any reason of that?

Most of the time it's the Temasek Polytechnic students who take 8 to Tampines interchange. However, 8 goes by a more circuitous road to Tampines Interchange than 23. So why not deploy more Superbuses for 23 and increase its frequency? Usually the upper and lower decks of 23 are almost filled when I board 23 from Siemens Centre towards Tampines each time. Alternatively, they could also introduce shortworking trips from Tampines to Bedok Reservoir Rd and then back to Tampines as 23A. These would be better alternatives in my opinion.

Beside services 8 and 23 as mentioned above, don't the TP students take services 15 and 69 to Tampines Central?

They do. But since 23 is faster to Tampines Interchange, it's more popular with the students. Actually, based on my observations for the past 2 years, most of the students took Service 15 and 23 and alighted at Tampines Ave 5. The rest of the students on Service 15 alighted along Tampines Ave 4 and Ave 7.

Service 8 is a good route. It provides links between Toa Payoh & Ubi, Tampines West & Ubi/Paya Lebar Rd/Macpherson, Temasek Poly & Paya Lebar/Macpherson/Toa Payoh. I guess the reason for SBST having the circuitious route along Ave 7 2 & 1 is because they want much of Tampines to have direct links with other places and also the above-mentioned places. I have once seen one packed single-deck Svc 8 at Jln Toa Payoh towards Tampines.

Service 23 is owesome too! Providing the Bendemeer/Jln Besar corridor with direct link to TP. Cheers!

Hmm… the journey time of 8 may somehow be comparable to 23’s… I was at Temasek Poly last Friday waiting for 23 when two 8s passed by. A minute later, my 23 came and when I alighted opp Siemens Ctr along Jln Kolam Ayer, I walked to the bus-stop opp Macpherson Kopitiam and while walking there, I saw in the distance that they had already reached tthere…

The traffic condition along PIE has a say in the journey time of service 23. Sometime along PIE (towards Tampines), 2 or even 3 buses of this service follow closely to one another.

If it could still ply the previous route of Tampines - Tomlinson Rd, it will be even better, lessening the load of service 65 and is also an alternative to MRT.

Is it because of the MRT that service 23 is cut back to Rochor Canal Rd?
