Gordonator SG calling staff sergeants "staff" sounds ok, but calling master sergeants "master" sounds a little weird.
kopiosatu SG they are classified as specialists. but it doesn’t really matter at where i work, everyone is pretty much a team.
YI SG if only master sergeants is as common as staff sergeant, perhaps then will the akwardness be gone. routine does make it easier..
nightzip SG think it easier for you to call them by ...e.g. Staff Wong, Master Chin, etc.... so you dun just say, yes! Master!..ahahah but Yes! Master Chin!
Gordonator SG my unit staff and master sergeants can be Duty Officers, the come down guardhouse see see look look give staff parade that one. (some of them can be very garang. ). bit werid considering technically they are not officers at all, at least not yet.
gnoik SG Just curious: now all staffs must go thro master 1st b4 becuming warrants? or they can skip?
Geforce3 SG brown for rsm, black for csm Anyway I just all called of them enciks hahha, esp when u are a men or a perm staff
react81 SG What rubbish.....chief petty officers are NEVER called mister. They go by chief or master chief. Officers, espacially junior officers, are the ones who are called Mister, espacially when addressed by senior officers.
Goondu74 SG I think the US Navy rank insignia cannot be compared with the local SAF rank insignia. They are rather different.
kopiosatu SG in the past, master sergeant was a condemned rank. now you have to go through it before climbing up to a warrant officer.
sidestep1984 SG chief petty officers are similar to staff..master and warrant ranks.... petty officers is like staff sergeants master chief is like master sergeant... senior master chief is like warrant ranks....
sidestep1984 SG how u noe they are never called mister?.. i had us navy sailors as rugby team mates b4.. and they called their pettys mister... junior officers they call them ensign if they are ensign...but simply as sir....... but who are we to comment on their military rank calling structures...if they find no fault in it......we shouldnt be the ones getting so uptight...
