Given a typical lightsaber's prodigious power consumption, the
six AA batteries won't last long. One solution would be to equip
the lightsaber with a power extension cord, but that has the
disadvantage of limiting cool lightsaber fights to areas within
easy reach of an electrical outlet supplying the correct
voltage.
Better to just use a gun.
