unfortunately, laog gong, u have been missing the point in the 2 pages le. Ya the lady should have called ambulance, but she didn't so now we have to ask why those people didn't help? Should we not help people in need just because they didn't take the best course of action? Maybe she panicked and didn't do the best thing, but does that mean she doesn't deserve our help then? Do they have the right to reject help just because she panicked at that moment? Can we all stand up and say for sure WE won't panic in a situation like that?

but if the mother can explain to a cabby once, and twice rgardin her dotter's critical condition, i wonder why she can't calm herself down enuff to call an ambulance?

But whats the point of asking those ppl why they didn help? They're not obliged to in any sense. the law didn make it such that u have to help someone when they're in critical conditions or else u'd have break the law.

If that's the case, how would they have accessed if the situation is indeed critical?

As for the policeman, 1 horn doesn mean anything. the police is not a psychic. he won't be able to noe that someone in a critical condition is in the cab unless they unwind the window n shout to the police.

no one should expect someone would put aside everything just to help

There are always many options but to balme everyone else for one's troubles, crosses the point where the person did not take responsibility for one's actions. Failing that and when paid in full with a life, the person should also wake up. Generally people should also use that as a reminder for themselves to be prepared for emergencies and not always think someone would help.

you dont need a law enacted to make people help those in trouble, especially when it is life threatening. sometimes we have to make decisions with our heart. and generally conscience is what will convinced someone to help under such circumstances. frankly your argument is one of the weirdest i have ever heard.

and when it comes to breaking the law isnt it stupid to reject helping someone under such circumstances just because you are afraid of the law?

anyway i have read of such a case.

a driver speeding to drive a pregnant to the hospital. a traffic police spotted him but helped clear the road to the hospital. he was not charged in anyway.

i seriously doubt you will be charged for speeding trying to help someone to the hospital. the most you get is a stern warning.

they are not obliged to. but then thats apathy right? so we're asking them why they din hep loh. besides, i do think the policemen were obliged to help. im sure they actually wound the window down and explain the situation to them in some way. its not literally one horn only.

and would u ignore someone who is say, alongside or behind u, horning and flashing and waving at u? the very least u'd try to find out whats wrong. what if its not they need help, but they notice something wrong on your car? i dun believe the policemen didn't know what was happening in the taxi. thats ridiculous.

if got nearby clinic and can give her daughter some meds to help her and buy more time.
Then its also something to consider since hospital is not like 5 mins away and hospital also got lots of people urgently in need of help.

Say if the lady got to hospital in time but hospital full of emergency patients from a critical road accident. Should the doctors drop all the critical patients and say the lady's daughter? is the girl's life worth more than anyone else? This is a moral question liao.

Then failing to save the girl, would the writer then blame the society for the road accidents and hospital for not having enough doctors and better service to save the girl?

It all really comes down to being prepared. Yes, anyone would panic. But panic aside, one needs to try the best to correct the situation. Panic like a mad woman would not save anyone. And to blame everyone for not helping is just plain irresponsible.

Being prepared is the responsibility of the mother - not the job of every stranger on the road.
