Hmmmz......not too sure bout their pushing efforts.But,seems that F-15 is the quietest in their marketing locally.Rafale and BAe Systems quite on,was at a Poly open house and they were giving Rafale and EuroFighter Typhoon flyers,phamplets etc...with their staff there giving introduction etc...Seems alittle over-doing it really.But good for me,haha

And I feel that unless ST really has a very stong missile R&D capability then it is advisable to get F15.As I'm sure that the US would disapprove of any cruise missiles along with the package.But if we get the Rafale or EuroFighter,it would definitely be easier to procure arms.Also not that although the F15 has a high thrust-to-weight ratio,it cannot sustain supersonic speeds for long periods,unlike the EuroFighter...(not sure about the rafale though)

it was interesting - there was loads of press hype for the Eurofighter...
but for the F-15 there wasnt very much.
what was evident though was the continual appearance of pairs of F-15's with F-16's in the air over Singapore...

that probably says more than anything else..

Perhaps this is what is needed to push our missile R&D capability, for that is one area we have not fully developed yet.Anyway, I still believe that we will go for commonality and not try and introduce a spanner into the works , after all, it'll be an interim NGF.And less public hype might be better, after all, we have also seen more F-15s flying in formation with our Vipers than any other candidate.Ruling out the issue of normal training is very possible, when you cast your mind back to the French Defence Minister's visit to Singapore and how she urged us to get the Rafale.In diplo-speak, urge is a very strong word, and it's close to desperation.Add in the rumours/news leak of RSAF having a training detachment in Korea and the picture becomes quite clear all of a suden.

Initially I tot so too, but the problem is F-15K is still not delivered to SKorea yet, for F-15C or E , I think we have seen enough , even in SG.

The Korean Air Show was held around the same time as the announcement in the papers about Zoe Tay’s birth.At the same time, Boeing put out a news release saying that the first F-15K has been delivered in time for the Air Show, if I recall correctly.

I dunno much about aircraft etc. But if history is anything to go by, the people who build more capable/famous aircraft than anyone else are the Americans, the Russians, Germans, Britain and Japan.

Erm... don't know about the French.

Yes, the Mirage was very famous but what else?

I kinda like the Eurotyphoon because its predecessor the Tornado was a pretty awesome aircraft.

And I like the F-15 because it's a proven aircraft. But then it has always been used against rather weak enemy airforces. Weak in terms of pilot skill, quality of equipment etc.

I often wonder why we are not considering Russian aircrafts with western avionics and weaponry. They are pretty awesome aircrafts too.

Well, based on this report, the first F-15K just flew in US just a few days ago, so no way there is any F-15K in SK.

Frankly I think that Zoe Tay and initiated a security leak..... she can plainly say that her husband is "overseas" without going into details.

I find it strange that the Frenchie minister make a desperate pitch... they must have known that the Rafale bid is in trouble....

The thing about the Raf and the EF is that other then the founding partners, there is no record of successful sale or service elsewhere......

The F15 is "proven" and I have afeeling they will go for the F15. mainly because it would represent the most risk free solution for the RSAF. It is a proven platform.... nothing revolutionary about it but it is proven.

Look at the naval heli competition, we went for the S-70 which is a proven platform.

Was it Zoe Tay or the media.I think its the latter and the signs are getting clearer.The French seldom send their Defence Minister out on a salesgirl job, not to forget its a commercial sale , not government to government.The Rafale was on the market for so long but failed to get a single buyer.

We gave Airbus our commercial plane market, I think Boeing will get our military business.

frenchy not interested to play god in this region, not interested to see an equal balance of power among regional players, as long as we can pay they will sell whatever it is we want to buy, straight cut and dried unlike the yanks want to sell us anything need 10 moral reason to do so. Get lost lah!
