that car is made in korea if i am not wrong. it is 1.4L. Considering your age with probably is about mine. The insurance is not really a killer and the road tax is low. If you think of getting a sports car, unless in your dad's name. The insurance and road tax alone will kill you.

Silvia is actually not bad... but the tax and insurance might be a bit too much... unless you're enlisting as pilot lah... then after you get your wings, I think GTR also can get...

Maybe just a 2nd hand Lancer or Civic can liao....

If you're going for new car, The Corolla Altis is not a bad choice... In terms of engine, I think among Mitsu, Toyota, Honda and Nissan, Toyota engines have a better pickup... I've driven all 4 before... Lancer, Corolla, City and Sunny... Still find the Corolla better to drive... it really goes where you want it to go...

Mazda has really improved over the years... a solid one would be Mazda 3... although I find the cabin a bit cramp... I'm only 1.7m... but when I sat in the Mazda 3, feel quite cramp... not as spacious as other cars...

If you want a sports car... Mazda Miata Mx-5 is quite common, Toyota Celica too... Silvia is kinda long... a bit hard to manoevuer in SG... but nice to look at... hee.... Toyota MR-S also not bad... but I can't say much cos I've never driven it...

As regards to what car u wan to buy, u have to think of the following

1) what you need

eg, a big car to drive yr family around, a sport car to show off, a small car to move yrself around.

Type of car will also affect the fuel consumpation, insurance and road tax.

2) what you can afford

it is easiler for the back to approve yr loan if yr mth installment is 3.5 time yr mth salary. Lower than that, u will need to find a guarnator.

3) Agent or Parallel Import car

Agents can provide better servicing package for their cars but they can earn it back from the higher profit margins.

Parallel Import have a highter OMV than agent cos agent have bulk discount, therefore the depreciation per year is lower and have a higher scape value.

Yup.Its for me to move from point A to point B.I dun really require sumthing that fancy honestly.I just need sumthing which is reliable,cheap,good and looks decent.Anyone can recommend 2nd hand cars?Around 1-2 yrs also can.

Not really worthwhile to get a 1-2 years used car because the COE is higher at that time.
Therefore, a new car will be maybe an only few thousand dollars more expensive then a used car now cos COE is much lower.

If you wan a small, efficient car, you can consider Honda Fit 1.3A.
It is abt 69K and it is sporty and trendy looking.
Most ppl driving this car are in the 20s, who have a sales job, as it is affordable and is very fuel efficiency.

IMHO, you should get a Front Wheel Drive and Naturally Aspirated ( Spelling? )Cars for first timers. Because Rear Wheel Drive and Mid Engine Cars tends to oversteer. My recommandation is the Altis, Civics are worth considering too. Turbo cars fuel consumption quite heavy.. Unless you are those rich kids can afford to pay then I got nothing to say. Very Happy

Not rich, but have budget of 60K for a car and not even enlisted yet...

Hmm...with these circumstance, get a new cheap saloon will do. U need to start somewhere, going low end is good for a start. Maintenance of car is not cheap, without regular income, u need to go budget.

Later when you have bigger budget, can upgrade.

My colleague travels from Punggol to Tuas to work everyday also dun spend that amount in a month!

Since thats the case, get a car like the lancer lor; its a jap car spares should be easy to find and cheap, price now less than 60K(+free rims and leather seats), not too bad looking, FC not very sure but shouldnt be too bad.
Best of all, no need to worry abt monthly installments!(that is if u pay in full)
